Ajay Asthana, Ph. D.
Ajay has over 25 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) strategy, architecture and solutions for complex business problems. He is the President of Pretium Analytics – a software and services company that builds business cases for IT solutions, and an Analyst with Cabot Partners focusing on information governance, value propositions, sales enablement and healthcare analytics.
Prior to Pretium, Ajay spent 15 years with IBM in their Consulting, Software, and Sales & Distribution organizations where he architected, developed and implemented IT solutions for clients with complex business problems. As an information economist, he successfully led a team to develop credible business cases for managing, tearing and disposing data to improve economics, reduce costs and mitigate legal risks. Ajay pioneered the business-driven development approach in healthcare to reduce development and implementation by introducing rigor in requirements gathering at the front end.
Prior to IBM, Ajay spent 9 years with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and 2 years with Diamond Technology Partners (now PWC) optimizing supply chains and reengineering businesses to become more effective and efficient. Ajay has patents on transportation and distribution solutions and on developing value propositions using integrated process and financial modeling to improve win-rates and reduce sales cycle time.
Ajay has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Osmania University, an MS in Computer Science from Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University (NYU), and a PhD in Information Systems from the Stern School of Business NYU. He resides in New Jersey and enjoys reading, travelling, swimming and hiking.
